MORE ABOUT RHODIUM
♦ Rhodium is a member of the platinum group of metals and is silver-hued, highly reflective and does not tarnish or corrode. It is harder than gold and is highly durable. Because rhodium is a brittle metal which is not easily shaped or formed, it cannot be made into jewelry on its own. However, Rhodium is an ideal material when used as a plating on other metals. Because of its hardness, rhodium plating is used to increase the durability, luster and light reflection of a piece of jewelry and is scratch resistant. Rhodium plating has the appearance of white gold. Unlike white gold, which often contains nickel in its alloys, rhodium contains no nickel which makes it an ideal material for people with skin sensitivities.
